Indian Army Surplus Camo Jacket / Uttarakhand

25.00 / Sold Out

North of Rishikesh in Northern India as you head towards the Himalayas the landscape starts to become more rugged and demanding

I noticed that many of the local men wore Indian army surplus jackets and thought that this was something to be investigated. I discovered that the multitude of Indian military bases along the border with China (historically a bit tense between the two) led to a steady trade in surplus jackets

As a travel photographer I've found that army surplus jackets are the ideal thing to wear, designed to deal with heavy wear in harsh conditions with lots of deep pockets they are perfect for travelling. I have two U.S military 'M65' jackets which are my standard choice

After a trip to the main market in Dera Dun, the capital of Uttarakhand State I came across and purchased a number of these genuine Indian army surplus jackets

------------------------------------------------------------

This is a medium weight jacket in tough cotton with a distinctively Indian camo pattern. It is issued but in great condition, it has been throughly cleaned so does not have any hint of a musty smell from storage. Details as follows:

- Front fastening zipper with fold down velcro flap
- Adjustable drawstring waist
- Four front pockets with fold down velcro flaps
- Reinforced elbows
- Adjustable velcro fastening cuffs
- Closing collar via velcro tab
- Zip closing side vents
- Hood attaching to back of collar via zip (not shown)

The item measures 60cm from pit to pit when laid flat and 81cm in length from the base of the collar down the back.
The jacket would best suit someone over 6ft / 1m80 in height up to a medium chest size

More pictures of the item can be seen below the main image

I currently have two of these available for purchase in similar sizes, the other having a slight issue with one of the side vents hence the lower price
